My non-profit work
Project Indigo
Communities build it. Communities own it.
I founded Project Indigo in 2024 to help Indigenous and Pacific communities build enterprises they own. The work asks a practical question: what needs to be in place for people to keep control of what they create?

Ownership is not a footnote.
The people who carry the knowledge keep the intellectual property they create. Community information is used only with their consent. Research and outside partnerships should support that ownership, not replace it.
Research grounded in practice.
At the Australian National University, I'm researching how Indigenous and Pacific communities build and own their enterprises. My Pacific Innovation Ecosystem framework explores the relationships, rules and support that help that happen.
I presented research at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York in April 2023. In November 2025, Project Indigo signed a three-year memorandum of understanding with the Government of Niue at COP30. No funds were committed.
The thinking behind the work
The Indigo Brief is where I share notes on trust, ownership and decisions. The ideas come from the work, not the other way around.
